Desalination plant EIS

15 11 2008

The Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Adelaide desalination plant at Port Stanvac was released this week. And it starts a six week public consultation period.

The Minister for the Southern Suburbs, John Hill in announcing the consultation period says, “This is a really important stage. Now local residents have an opportunity to have a look at the plans and express their views.”

There’s a public meeting in Hallett Cove on Monday night (November 17), but if you’d like to be fully across all the detail of the EIS before that meeting, you’d better start reading now – it’s a pretty hefty document, with an even larger set of technical appendices.

Robert Lloyd from Save Our Gulf Coalition has made a start on the EIS, and gave us his first thoughts.
