Debate over the federal government’s proposed Internet Service Provider Filtering scheme is a complex one, and can be an emotional one from both sides of its argument.
On one side there’s the issue of censorship, the other protection of children from inappropriate content… then there’s technical issues of whether it will actually work, the role of parents supervising children on the net…. And that’s just the start.
Then there’s another consideration, should ISP filtering be the considered as a stand alone issue or in the broader world of the internet should it be considered one of many tools for ensuring net safety.
