NZ Prime Minister JOHN KEY says the national state of emergency imposed after last month’s devastating Christchurch earthquake will be extended today, and is likely to be in place for some time.
The New Zealand Cabinet will today discuss the quake with an inquiry into building collapses and a memorial day on the agenda. Police lifted the cordon in areas of Christchurch’s CBD yesterday allowing the public to retrieve any cars left behind before the quake. It meant for many Cantabrians they were able to get a glimpse of their near ruined city for the first timesince the quake on February 22nd.
Catherine Zengerer spoke to Selwyn Manning about this latest development in the continuing story of the devastating Christchurch earthquake.
