With the dust barely settling after the devastating Oklahoma and North Carolina tornadoes, the city of Joplin in Missouri has become the latest hit by horrific storms.
The death toll currently stands at 116 but is set to rise when search and rescue are able to properly survey the area.
Jess Wingard spoke to Doug Cramer, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in the United States.
