Over the past three years, the amount of surplus accumulated in the Victims of Crime fund has almost tripled, with a staggering $77 million sitting untouched.
This figure has prompted calls for compensation and support program pay outs to be doubled.
Family First MLC, Robert Brokenshire, obtained documents from the Rann Government following a Freedom of Information request, and he called on the Government to increase victims’ maximum compensation payouts to $100,000.
Tim Brunero spoke to Mr. Brokenshire and sked him what the documents revealed about compensation payments to victims.
