Is the Family Court system broken?
Child protection expert Professor Freda Briggs believes the system doesn’t ensure that those who abuse children are punished, and that the system needs a serious overhaul.

so true the system is as dysfunctional as the families who come before them the system is non supportive of children’s developmental needs these court judgements are only statistics and benefit no member of these families. It is time that these FAMILY court experts must justified there findings with clinical facts to which they claim are in the best intersts of the children. They cannot with the limited time spent with these CASES make such profound assumptions which become the Court findings which are determental to all parties. the Cost of these proceedings far outways the benefit from them for any family. The only people satisfied with the coutcomes in these courts are the Legal Profession and the public servant who are employed by the system
this has struck a chord with me as I am a mother and a victim of domestic abuse and my ex has just been cleared of child abuse in family court and I have been told to put up and shut up or loose my child even tho my child has finally told me its been happening and that his father is the perpetrator I either hand over my child to a father who is and has been sexually abusing my son for years now for contact or I will risk loosing my child permanently to his abuser . What kind of world are we living in? Its the children who are being made to suffer I hope fathers for justice are very proud of themselves for the Evil deeds they have done.

I have seen what she speaks about, I have seen children removed for ludicrous reasons and for 1/2 hour interviews with Psychologist who deem them a risk to their children??? Freda Briggs you have my full respect for speaking out and being able to be heard. There are many of us screaming out there but we are gagged and unable to tell our stories x
