Australia is known around the world as a peaceful and diplomatic country, and is a signatory to many world-recognised treaties and agreements which encourage peace.
But do our laws really reflect this promise to maintain peace and protect human rights?
A new protocol that has been approved by the Australian Treaty Commission, promises to ensure that the rights of vulnerble people in Australian detention centre will be protected, through regular, on-location checks.
