Imagine what life would be like if people backed away when they met you, refused to shake your hand, or called you names?
People living with HIV can find themselves not only grappling with the physical and mental changes that the virus brings, but with social stigmas and discrimination aided by the media’s habit of treating HIV positive people like lepers.
Peer-driven, non-for profit community group Positive Life SA aims to help change that.
Tim Brunero spoke with Positive Life SA Executive Officer Rob O’Brien and HIV positive speaker Kath about living with HIV and some of the stigmas and discriminations the group hopes to reduce.
