Taking care of mental health in the Aussie bush

With around 30 per cent of Aussies living in the bush, it’s important to remember that the needs of rural communities are just as great as those for people living in our capital cities.

This is especially the case when it comes to having access to decent mental health care services.

But evidence shows a lack of decent services can have far greater consequences on the mental health of those living rurally, than for our city dwellers.

Radio Adelaide Breakfast producer, Lisa Burns, speaks to South Australian Greens Senator Penny Wright and Helen McCarthy, committee member of Port Lincoln Community House, about the issues surrounding rural mental health care services in Australia.
