Having a public profile used to simply be being stalked by journalists and paparazzi, but new-media has added a new dimension. Athletes in particular use Twitter and Facebook to interact with their fans, but has it become too much of a distraction?
Australia loves Gold medals, and with a history of superstars in the Olympics like Dawn Fraser, Ian Thorpe and Cathy Freeman it seems we expect gold medals more than we celebrate them.
