As you know by now, this is Science Week, and we’ve brought you space stories, science history, science docos and science poetry. But what about science stories, known as ‘science fiction’ or ‘speculative fiction’.
This is a genre that includes everything from Dr Who & Starwars through to ‘The Big Three’ ‘hard’ science fiction writers: Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, and Arthur C. Clarke.
The question is, is science fiction just an interesting form of escapism, or can it be something much more? Tim Brunero spoke to Author, Sean Williams, to find out.
