Tom Waits voice was once described as sounding like “it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car” His songs tell stories of life lived too hard and fast. HARRY VAN VENETIE, aka the Fat man of Love his lived a life close to what Waits sings about, so he’s well placed to ‘tip his hat’ to the man in a tribute show at Higher Ground.
