Twisters hit Missouri US – update

A single tornado struck the township of Joplin, Missouri in the US on Sunday night, leaving over one hundred people dead, many injured and absolute devastation. 

With little warning the twister tore its way along for 9 1/2 kilometres; at a width of over 800 metres it went straight though the town’s centre making it the deadliest single tornado to strike the United States in nearly 60 years. 

Drew Albert from the U.S.National Weather Service gave us an update of the situation.
