Newsflash: Mining magnates may have hearts

Unemployment rates among Indigenous people are more than four times higher than the national average, while in some communities, school attendance is as low as 30 per cent.

GenerationOne is a not-for-profit organisation that was founded by mining giant Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest and his wife, Nicola as a movement to show the importance of education, training, mentoring and employment between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The organisation aims to aims to end the disparity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in one generation.

Tim Brunero spoke to Warren Mundine,  former president of the Federal Labor Party and chief executive of Generation One.
