Celebrations are held across Australia each July during NAIDOC week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year’s NAIDOC theme is Spirit of the Tent Embassy: 40 years on.
Aboriginal people continue to make an enormous contribution to developing South Australia’s future. Some of these were recognised with NAIDOC awards during the Lord Mayor’s morning tea at the Adelaide Town Hall earlier this week.
Christine Brown and Stevie Goldsmith from Nunga Wangga caught up with some of the award winners who come from a wide diversity of fields including education, employment, politics, sport and the performing arts.
