Not so blinded by the light

New Zealanders set up their deck chairs, topped up their vaccum flasks with a hot beverage and covered their shivering laps with crochet rugs in anticipation of one of the greatest light shows on earth – an aurora – which passed over the South Island on the weekend.

The spectacle was caused by a geomagnetic storm which stemmed from a X-class solar flare, that had exploded from the sun on Friday morning.

Sadly for some of New Zealand’s inhabitants, cloud cover hid the technicolour light show from view – but fortunatley  for us, New Zealand correspondent Anna Bracewell joined Tim Brunero to tell us all about this and all of the other latest news to come out of New Zealand!
