Brendan Benson, a genre of his own

With every new album, American singer/songwriter Brendan Benson is placed by critics into a new genre of music, straddling rock, pop and country.

He’s released five albums under his own name, with ‘What Kind Of World’ coming out earlier this year.

But for Australian audiences he may be better known for his work with Jack White in the Saboteurs, known as the Raconteurs overseas due to a copyright claim.

The band features the dual songwriting talents of Benson and White, as well as members of rock band The Greenhornes.

He’s back in solo mode after a few years with the Saboteurs and joined Angus Randall to talk all things music.
