Although the ALP has achieved victory in the Melbourne byelection over the weekend, the party has been marred by controversies surrounding its conflict with the Greens party.
Traditionally both parties have shared progressive values, and hark from the left-wing of the Australain political spectrum. However the power of the right-faction seems to have brough the Labor party as a whole closer to the cenre, or even to the right.
Monash University Politics Professor Greg Barton gave Tim his insights into the state of progressive politcs in Australia.
