Aboriginal people and South Australia

Every year, baby steps are made towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and now the South Australian Government has promised it will commit to making sure Aboriginal people are formally recognised in SA’s Constitution.

A new panel, made up of prominent and well-respected Indigenous South Australians, will tour metro and regional South Australia, to seek the views of South Aussies on how the statement of recognition in the constitution should be worded and what form it should take.

Tim Brunero spoke to Commissioner for Aboriginal Engagement, Khatija Thomas, about the tour.
