A 100 year-old tree is worth it

How much would you spend on keeping a 100 year-old tree alive? The Burnside Village has spent $126 000 so far in keeping the tree alive: $20,000 on a misting system to control leaf moisture, $100,000 to install new electronic doors to help control temperatures and $6000 in specialist fees.

Arborist and Director of TreeNet, David Lawry spoke to Tim Brunero about why the old tree isn’t coping too well at at the newly expanded Burnside Village.

David believed that the tree isn’t adapting to its new conditions due to the air flow and the lighting which could be affecting the photosynthesis process.
