AFL and Homophobia

We all remember Jason Akermanis’ controversial comments, claiming that homosexual footballers should stay in the closet – but how is homosexuality actually perceived by the wider football community?

The AFL thinks it’s an area of improvement and they are launching an anti-homophobia ad campaign that will be launched at the Grand Final, in an effort to question the current culture.

One man who has been affected by the anti-homosexual culture is Jason Ball. He spoke to Angus Randall about his experiences and the changes he would like to see.
