Al-Shabab Suckerpunched in Somalia

One of the major causees of political and social unrest in Somalia has been the al-Qaeda linked al-Shabab Islamist militant organisation. For years they’ve fuelled lawlessness in the African coastal country and it appears they’ve been pushed back.
A coalition of African Union troops moved into the port city of Kismayo and have apparently forced the militants into a retreat. Associate Professor Felix Patrikeef joined Bill Walter to discuss the potential for peaceful democracy in Somalia, and analyse what al-Shabab’s next move may be.
