Today is World Animal Day (and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi) – a day when we think about the creatures that share the planet with us, and our treatment of them.
Sadly, much of our treatment of animals leaves a lot to be desired, and groups like the RSPCA are working to improve the lives of animals.
Some animals that we might not think about very often are those we encounter more in the supermarket than in the paddock – animals we don’t have a cute and fluffy relationship with. Yet those animals still deserve ethical treatment for the duration of their lives.
‘Humane Food Marketing Manager’ for the RSPCA Australia, Hope Bertram, spoke to Angus Randall.
