Couch Surfing and the young homeless

When you think of a homeless person do you think of an older man who looks down and out, living in a park and sleeping on a bench?

Actually many homeless people look, and live, quite differently to this.  Many young Australians are homeless, but they’re not sleeping on a park bench, they’re staying with a series of friends and families – they’re “couch surfing”.

Wednesday October 10 is World Homelessness Day and advocates for young people don’t want us to forget about the couch surfers.

Angus Randall spoke to Paul Edginton, the CEO of Services to Youth Council.
