Human Rights for Disabled Women

Did you know that it is actually legal for disabled women here in Australia to be sterilized? A Senate inquiry has brought to light this controversial practice.

As the UN pushes for the practice to be banned, the government is also reviewing the laws in line with the inquiry and will be accepting submissions until February.

The Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Graeme Innis, spoke with Bill Walter on Breakfast on Friday morning, beginning with how common the practice is.
