Raided Rights

Earlier this year, the Brisbane Aboriginal Embassy was established in a park just south of the city, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Canberra tent embassy.

However, just after midnight on Thursday the 13th December 2012 the embassy was raided by police and council workers. In the raid, 3 protesters were arrested, and a sacred fire was extinguished, but the Brisbane City mayor has defended the raid, by saying that the action was commissioned by Aboriginal Elders.

Chair of the National Unity Government, Michael Anderson joined Bill Walter on the show.
